I have read that this is a subscription based game, will that be only thing you pay or do you have to pay for a copy of the game when you start.

You have to buy it then get a subscription, although I'd hope you'd get a month or two free for buying it. I am saying this because Syph mentioned pre-ordering. You wouldn't pre-order a subscription would you?

Novus Aeterno is a one time purchase. The initial game comes with a one month free subscription. All future expansions are free. All gameplay is included in the game; there will be minimal cashshop.

The initial purchase and monthly subscription covers everything.

in terms of the cash shop, are we talking minimal as in vanity items only, or will there be helpful items in there also?
-while i have no real issues with paying for in game items, i have this theory that on subscription based games, a cash shop should only be vanity items (ie, spending extra cash on the game shouldnt give you an advantage over players who are not able to)

What does "All gameplay is included in the game;" mean?

i expect it means that there will be no area's you can only enter if you pay extra to do so, and no extra aspects of the game that will be a chargeable service (like, for instance, an extra subscription to give you access to, say, the ability to open up wormholes)

Yeah, okay that makes more sense now. I'm still hoping that overall it's not too expensive, I'm not a huge fan of paying a lot a month for a game that I already paid to buy. Especially considering there are only ever a few games every two or three years that I want to buy full price.

The cashshop will never have any gameplay modifications or unbalancing items. Right now the only thing we are considering for cashshop is username reservation and a tiny fee for custom hull skin uploads to keep profane images from being uploaded.
