Ironically one of our artists only saw borderlands artwork a few days ago (we live in caves) and he's not fond of its style. =P
That would be the guy who did stuff like this:

I also didn't take it in a bad way, its one of those compliments an artist has mixed feelings about since they want their style to look unique and different then get told it looks like something else. xD
It is like, "I'm glad you like it, but that wasn't what inspired me to do it." =P

EDIT:
Here's a character concept sketch for borderlands characters to compare. =P

IMO, excellent work so far!

It's a tad hard to make out the details on the guard one post above ^^^ but I think it's just the black and white sketch making the parts harder to separate .. But think I got it :-) these look great

Rodrigo's design for the Smuggler Faction.

Remember, you can either right click -> view image or just left click and access the image link since I embedded the image location in the image since the forum tends to crop the image.

In the gaming world is almost impossible to come up with an idea that doesn't draw inspiration from somewhere whether it be another game, a movie, or some other form of media. Considering Borderlands was a very successful game could be taken as a compliment. They all look great regardless.

We understand it was not a insult but it is a bit depressing when a very creative person spends 3 years designing a character set giving it a awesome unique feel then a game comes out even after you finished your project and everyone starts saying "oh it looks just like that game! meanwhile you spent AGES trying to make it unique...

its one of the most annoying things to be at a convention and you hear 2 people talking one says "whats this?" and the other guy says "dono its like eve or something" -.- we did not spend 5 years of our lives living on rice and water to make a "like eve or something" game...

to clarify i understand you where complementing us don't get me wrong i love boarderlands, just trying to explain perfictdeaths response a bit.

And here is some concepts for an optional skin for the battleship part of a templar fleet theme.

Skins are going to be useful for differentiating between your different ship designs so you don't have to keep asking yourself, "which dread naught is the one with beamy guns, and which has the dakka guns?"

Rodrigo's at it again!

The hunters are a theme of humans who live off the animals in organic-rich environments. They thin out predators and hunt prey. They don't get along well with some verunas who make these bioms their homes and compete all the time.
